Trade & Industry Development
Trade and Industry Development engages with businesses, large and small, to promote the development of sustainable industries that are growth-oriented and export-focused.
The division also coordinates investment attraction and export facilitation and is responsible for the whole of Victorian Government framework guiding Victoria's overseas relationships.
The division's primary responsibilities include:
- The strategic development of economic projects, the defence and aerospace industries, the automotive industry and the food and beverage sector
- Generating new investment leads and attracting international investment
- Managing DBI's investment processes and protocols
- Encouragement and support of the participation of Victorian firms in international business through facilitating a range of export programs and services
- Advocating activity in the development of effective industry policy in cooperation with Strategic Policy
- Coordinating whole-of-Government international business
- Managing the network of Victorian Government Business Offices overseas
- Coordinating Government international travel, including high level contacts and Ministerial visits
- Coordinating business leveraging from major events in Victoria
- Identifying new investment opportunities in regional Victorian and actively facilitate regional exports, investments and jobs
- Supporting small businesses across all sectors
- Addressing labour and skills needs through increased local workforce participation and overseas skilled and business migration attraction
